Between
2005-2006, I completed a solo bicycle trip of approximately 16,000 miles
in 26 countries. Yeah! This trip started in Lisbon, Portugal and ended in
my hometown, Aguas de Sao Pedro, Brazil. The trip lasted about 12 months
and involved every challenge I could imagine. The trip was completed by bicycle
but planes, buses and ships were used when routes were impassable by bicycle.
A tentative trip route is shown below.

Additional
Trip Information
I
did it for several reasons. I wanted to inspire people to bike more often.
I wanted to raise money to children therefore changing their lives forever.
I am young,
healthy and single. But these were reasons based on the outcome of my determination,
my courage, my discipline, my confidence, my desire to succeed. One can only
challenge himself whether he has these qualities by doing something as bold
and powerful as the words mentioned above. I learned to live a simple life
depending on my tent, my stove, my bike to travel the world proved to be
an unforgettable life lesson.
Distance Chart
A
basic distance chart is provided. The important part here was to establish
the
distance goals of the trip. I tried to go faster on some routes and slower
on others. Distance has been calculated as the crow flies plus 60% of the
distance.
E.G. New Delhi to Kathmandu as the crow flies is 501 miles. Add 60% to 501,
801 miles.
